How to run a Veeam file level test restore

Goal

Test the Veeam file level restore functionality

Solution

Open Veeam Backup and Replication Console normally located on the Hyper-V Physical server and click Restore, Microsoft Hyper-V

Click Restore from backup

Click Guest File restore

Click Microsoft Windows

Use the backup broswer to select a server from the backup to restore from

Select the restore point, be sure to select a different once each time you run a restore

Give the restore a name and a reason

Find a folder to restore, make sure you test a different once each time. Right click the folder and click Copy to

Click browse, create a “Test Restores” folder on the local disk, then create a folder with the date inside, select this folder, click ok and the files will be restored.

Once the restore has completed ensure there are no errors. If any errors are reported please report them to second line support.
