Kudos to Altaro for getting us out of a sticky situation on how to reset ESXi root password
Over the weekend a site we have recently taken over decided to go down for no reason that we knew of.
All the VM’s on a VMWare ESXi system (that we do not have access to due to the previous IT support suppliers not having over sufficient documentation) were presumed Offline or Dead.
Monday morning saw us driving over to the site to find that the ESXi host was on but none of the VM’s were.
After following Altaros guide here for resetting the root password on ESXi we were able to gain access and found that the VM’s were Powered Off!
