Issue
Had this error when trying to connect to a share on a remote trusted domain, the error was present when trying to map the drive via GPO and also via net use in a cmd prompt window.
Solution
The solution to the problem was an incorrectly configured outgoing trust. To fix the issue simply change the outgoing trust name suffix routing to be enabled. This will then force all authentication connections for the given domain to the dc in that forest.
